Resolution No.9 (1991): Participation in ACCORD project
IAGA noting that our understanding of solar activity is often too limited to predict such processes as solar flares and geomagnetic storms and their influence on the Earth; stresses the necessity for outer-atmospheric observations of the Sun and solar-terrestrial interactions processes; recommends that appropriate national agencies in each country facilitate participation in the spacecraft project ACCORD (spacecraft APEX and CORONAS, 1992-1995) in conjunction with ground-based, balloon and rocket experiments, and invites SCOSTEP and COSPAR to participate in the project.
